Weekly Report: 5/17/10-5/21/10

Well, we've had good and bad this week, not as bad as last week, thankfully.  We had a fun day at open gym on Tuesday with our cousins.  We worked clearing the garden.

Memory Work:

Bible: started Genesis 1:13 ... hooray for Day 3!

Catechism/Creed: Moved to new catechism verse sections.  R-girl only added one verse.

Hymn: Next verse of How Great Thou Art.

Poetry: Still Jonathan Bing and After the Party.

Counting: We're counting between 100 and 200 this month; next month counting by 100s.

Phonics:

M-girl: We're almost done with the section where blends can sometimes make another short sound.

N-boy: he's working on learning how to blend  at the beginning.  He read the word "local" at Whole Foods, yesterday.  He keeps picking up and reading the Hop on Pop board book.  How exciting is that!?  I'm going to have to order his Bible soon :)

Math:  I'm considering changing to Math Mammoth for our main curriculum.

M-girl: Loving MEP.  She chooses it over Ray's every time.

span style="font-weight:bold;">N-boy: Still working on the 11-20 numbers.

R-girl:  Counting whatever she can.  She's very good at one to one correspondence.

Grammar:

M-girl: We did the final review story this week and she narrated very nicely!

Science: We dug the weeds (two bags full!) out of the garden.  We also pulled out some slugs and moth pupa.  We didn't know what were the moth pupa until we looked them up on the web :)  The children were great helpers in sifting out roots and observing bugs and smoothing the dirt to get ready to plant (yes, late I know)

Bible:  We started Tell Me about God and are enjoying it.

Read Alouds: We started the Princess and the Goblin last night.  I read it last summer and enjoyed it, Jason enjoyed the first chapter; it gave us a lot to talk about.  I'm pretty sure the children will enjoy it.

  4. I don't think you're that late on planting, although everyone else in my family could be the expert (i.e. hubby, grandma, FIL), not me . . . . ;-)
