The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My parents are going to take the children to see the play this week and asked if we would read the book ahead of time.
I don't know if I've ever read it before; I've seen the play, though, so I knew a little of what to expect.
I did *not* expect uproariously funny, very tender and sweet, and thought provoking.
There were some portions where the author was making her point by excessive bad behavior on behalf of some of the characters, some of which I wasn't completely comfortable reading to the children. We had some great discussions, though.
Glad we read it; hope to read it again some other year.
