Memory Time Monday for August 19, 2013

I hope to get back into the habit of posting these.

Memory Work for the week of ... : August 19, 2013

Bible: We're working on Colossians 3:12-17

Catechism/Creed: R-girl is working on the 7th and 8th Commandments. Everyone else is reviewing.

Hymn: "Exalt the Lord, His Praise Proclaim" We're on our final (third) week of this hymn. It's a great one.

Covenantal Catechism: We're on Chapter 13 about Joseph. Anyone know a good kids Bible song for Joseph? Jamie Soles doesn't even seem to have one!

Poetry: The Height of the Ridiculous by Oliver Wendell Holmes. Fun!

Counting: I think we're going to add 11s.

History: We've been re-organizing our VP cards into order (set 1 & 2) and are right about Jesus' birth.

Science: We've been memorizing CC's Geology cards. They're really good! We've been working through the parts of the ocean.

Geography: We're working on the Western Europe song.

Latin: Almost done with Song School Latin 1! We're going to work on the Sailing Song this week.

Reading: We're almost done with The Heavens, I need to decide on our new devotional read. We're enjoying Everyday Graces one story or poem a day. We read a story today about kind hosting and giving generously. We've been reading Peril and Peace during Circle Time. It has been a good way to introduce Church History to the children (though sometimes it could use some better editing). We're reading about Constantine now, which M-girl is relieved about because she's not such a big fan of the martyrdom. Finally, we're working through Parables from Nature. We didn't start this week's story because we were running slowly this morning, but I hope to read "The Voices of the Earth" this week.

  1. Joseph is too obvious a story? How weird, but, I can't think of one, either!

  2. I was wrong about Jamie Soles there's one on his "Up From Here" album ... now if I could just download it already!

  3. I was just going to suggest that cd. We love Soles' music. Have you thought about using CC history sentences? They're really good & my children ESP like that they're out to music. We use CC science sentences also.

  4. I have not. I bought the VP cards from CCers and we're doing fine with them. I looked at the CC ones, but but I'll use what we have.
